Maureen O’Donoghue Hannon has the experience to make an excellent judge!

Maureen O'Donoghue HannonMaureen won the March 2016 Democratic Primary for the position of Circuit Court Judge in Cook County, Illinois. She looks forward to running unopposed in the General Election on Tuesday, November 8.

Maureen wishes to thank the many people who, through their generous support and encouragement, have made her campaign a success.

As a practicing attorney for over 24 years, Maureen has a breadth of experience. For 20 of the last 24 years she has been an Assistant States Attorney here in Cook County in the Civil Actions Bureau. Maureen has practiced in most of the divisions of the Circuit Court of Cook County including chancery, probate, county, law, and the municipal division and as well as defended the County from constitutional claims in litigation in federal court. Four years ago, she was appointed as the Supervisor of the Conflicts Counsel Unit, a relatively new unit which represents County defendants in cases with a potential conflict of interest that were formerly sent out to private firms.

Maureen has also practiced for three years in the private sector, here in Chicago at the law firm of Burke, Burns & Pinelli, Ltd. and one year at a labor law firm in Washington D.C. which had many of the national unions as clients. Her experience includes a wide variety of litigation including jury trials in state and federal court and appellate practice here in the first district and the Illinois Supreme Court.
